Leadership Public Schools-Oakland R&D is seeking a Campus Coordinator. LPS’ mission is to send 100% of its graduates to college. The Campus Coordinator is an integral member of our team, working directly with the Dean of Students to support campus safety, school culture, and student activities. We are seeking someone who believes in the promise of Oakland youth, is committed to collaboration and communication with a team, who understands the importance of setting appropriate professional boundaries while advocating on behalf of our students; who possess strong emotional intelligence and maturity; and who wants to continue to develop our already robust school culture. This is a school year role, with opportunities for additional work during some student breaks and summers.

The Campus Coordinator responsibilities will include:

Campus Safety

  • Provide a secure environment for students and staff
  • Maintain a high degree of visibility in specified areas of campus
  • Monitor and report any unusual or strange behavior or events
  • Be in charge of safety policies and procedures as they relate to the surrounding neighborhood
  • Support tardy and attendance management
  • Organize, manage, and account for detention system
  • Account for tardy and attendance contract students
  • Support and collaborate with the Dean of Students
  • Support the Dean of Students with disciplinary issues
  • Escort students, parents and/or visitors, or other staff
  • Supervise students before school, during passing periods, during lunch, and after school
  • Monitor and support detention and triage for student referrals
  • Support Restorative justice practices (circles and conflict mediation)
  • Support the Dean of Students in addressing school culture issues
  • Support the Dean of Students with organizing and managing Family Meeting
  • Support school culture
  • Promote a strong school culture and school pride
  • Organize and manage announcements system
  • Support the Academic Dean with administering standardized tests
  • Serve as a member for the LPS Oakland R&D Culture Team
  • Model the Leadership Way

In collaboration with Culture Team support the Campus Coordinator will:

  • Support After-School and Activities (including After-School Tutoring)
  • Will support the Fitness and sports program
  • Support and facilitate Student leadership activities
  • Support management of after-school programs
  • Maintain routine records related to students and program activities
  • Observe and manage behavior of students enrolled in After School Program
  • Participate in the Student Leadership Retreat in late August
  • Fulfill other duties or other assignments as needed in order to best serve our students

 The Ideal Campus Coordinator will have:

  • Experience working with youth from under-resourced communities
  • Superb (verbal and written) communication skills
  • A passion for serving Oakland youth and their families
  • Associates degree (strongly preferred) or equivalent work experience
  • Spanish fluency strongly preferred
  • Professional attitude and appearance to meet school standards
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
  • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, courtesy, and respect
  • Physical ability to stand, lift light objects, kneel, bend and reach overhead
  • Confidence in managing student behavior
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt easily
  • Evidence of professional reflection and collaborative work
  • Be comfortable with a charter school environment
